How Do I Rank for a Specific Keyword?
You can’t add a keyword to diib by hand, but you can earn a ranking for it. Here’s how.
diib shows the keywords your site already ranks for in Google’s top 50. If a keyword you care about isn’t in My Keywords, Google doesn’t rank your site for it yet. You can’t add it by hand, but you can earn it. Here’s how.
1. Pick the right keyword
Use the diib Keyword Explorer to find keywords related to your business that people actually search for. If you’re a local business, include your city or area, for example “dog trainer colorado springs.”
2. Give the keyword its own page
Choose one page on your site for that keyword, or create a new one. Use the keyword in the page title, the main heading and the first paragraph. Write naturally. Repeating the keyword over and over won’t help.
3. Answer the question better than the top results
Search the keyword in Google and look at the pages in the top 10 and the “People Also Ask” box. Cover what they cover, answer the questions people are asking, and add what only you know: your prices, your process, your location, your photos.
4. Link to the page
Link to the page from your homepage or other related pages on your site. Links from other websites (backlinks) help too. See How Do I Get More Backlinks?
5. Give it time, then track it
New pages can take weeks or months to rank. Once your site reaches Google’s top 50 for the keyword, it will show up in My Keywords. Click Start Tracking to follow its progress over time.
No one can guarantee a Google ranking, including diib. These steps give your page its best chance.
