What Do the Keyword Ranking Difficulties Mean in "My Keywords"?

Find out which keywords are worth your time based on your site's strength.

In your diib dashboard, the "My Keywords" section shows you the search terms your site is ranking for, along with how competitive each one is. These difficulty levels help you decide which keywords to focus on based on your website’s strength.

Easy

These keywords have low competition and are great to target if you’re just getting started. If your Domain Authority (DA) is under 30, Easy keywords can help you get traffic faster by creating helpful, relevant content.

Medium

These keywords have moderate competition. If your DA is in the 20s or 30s, Medium keywords are a solid goal. You might already be ranking in the Top 3 for some of these. To improve, you can build a stronger page (think about questions that your audience wants answered), write related content, or earn a few backlinks.

Hard

Hard keywords are more competitive and often dominated by big websites. If your DA is under 40, these will be tougher to rank for. But if you're already showing up, great! You can still move up by improving your page or building authority. If you're not showing up yet, it's smart to focus on Easy and Medium for now.

N/A

If a keyword says N/A, it means there isn't enough public data to give it a difficulty score. It could be a very specific or niche term and still worth targeting. If it's something your customers search for, it's still worth going after.

Which keywords should you go after?

Here's a simple guide:

  • If your DA is under 30, stick with Easy and test out a few Medium ones, especially if your DA is in the 20s.

  • If your DA is in the 30s, you can go after Medium and keep an eye on a few Hard keywords. Remember, create content that your audience is seeking out. Answer questions they're searching for.

  • Once your DA is above 40, you’re in a good position to go after the harder stuff too! That doesn't mean you can't go after N/A or Easy, but you're likely already ranking for a bunch of those. Harder difficulty keywords often have a higher monthly search volume and can convert into some solid sales on your site.

As your site grows, your keyword strategy should grow with it. diib will help you track your progress and give you ideas to keep moving forward. Make sure you're paying attention to your Alert emails and Monthly Snapshot reports!
