What Does the Priority Score Mean in My diibAI Visibility Score Citations?
When you view your diibAI Visibility Score, you'll see a list of citations. These are the website pages that AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity used when answering questions about your industry.
What is a Citation?
A citation in this context is a webpage that an AI tool pulled information from when creating its answer. We call them "citations" because the AI is referencing or "citing" these pages as sources, similar to how you'd cite sources in a research paper. These can be competitor websites, review sites, industry directories, blog posts, or any other page online.
What are the Priority Scores?
Next to your citations you'll see Priority, and a score underneath. This score shows you how much influence each citation had on the AI's answer. A higher score means that source was more important when the AI created its response.
What Makes a Citation High Priority?
A citation gets a higher Priority score when:
- It appears near the top of the AI's answer (not buried at the bottom)
- The AI uses it multiple times in the same response
- Multiple AI tools reference it (like both ChatGPT and Claude using the same source)
What Makes a Citation Low Priority?
Citations with lower scores typically:
- Only appear once in an answer
- Show up at the bottom of the response
- Were briefly mentioned but not heavily relied on
Why Does This Matter?
Understanding Priority scores helps you see which sources AI tools trust most in your industry. If competitor sites or directories have high Priority, those are the sources influencing what AI tells potential customers about businesses like yours.
Where Should I Start?
Focus on the highest Priority scores first. These are the sources AI trusts most, so they'll give you the biggest impact:
If it's a directory, review site, or article: Reach out to the website owner and ask to get your business listed or featured. A simple email can go a long way.
If it's a competitor's page: Look at what information they're providing. Create a similar page on your own website with that type of content so AI tools might cite your page instead of theirs.
Work your way down from highest to lowest priority. This will help you focus your time on what matters most.
