October 2025: Why Your Keywords Changed
In October 2025, we changed how we show your keywords because Google is using more artificial intelligence, and the way they rank websites is changing fast. Our new way is more accurate and shows you what's really happening with your website. If you use our free version, nothing changed for you.
We recommend reading the knowledge base article below to understand the differences and why we believe this is better for you.
Understanding Your Keyword Rankings
The keywords shown in your diib dashboard are the search terms where your website is doing well. We only show keywords where your website appears in the first 50 search results on Google in your country.
Think of it this way: if someone searches for your product or service, and your website shows up on page 1, 2, or 3, we count that as a keyword you're ranking for.
Why Your diib Numbers May Be Different From Other Tools
If you use other tools like SEMrush or SERPstat and compare them to diib, you might see different numbers of keywords. This is completely normal and happens with everyone. Here's why:
Different Tools Count Keywords Differently
Not all tools count the same way. Some tools count keywords all the way down to position 100 or beyond. Others only count the top 10. diib counts keywords in the top 50 positions because that's where customers actually find you. Positions beyond 50 don't bring much traffic anyway, so we focus on the rankings that really matter for your business.
Google Fixes Spelling Mistakes
Here's something most people don't know: when someone types a misspelled word into Google, Google automatically fixes it and shows results for the correct spelling instead.
For example, if someone searches for "car deler" (spelled wrong), Google changes it to "car dealer" (spelled right) and shows you those results. Different tools handle this differently. Some count the misspelling and the correct spelling as two separate keywords. diib counts them as one because they really are the same thing—Google treats them that way.
This is one reason why diib might show fewer keywords than other tools. We're being more accurate about what's actually happening on Google.
Every Tool Uses Different Methods
Here are other reasons the numbers might be different:
- How often they check: Some tools check your rankings every day, others check less often. This means they might catch different rankings.
- Where they check from: Different tools check rankings from different places around the internet, which can give different results.
- What they count as a keyword: Some tools count things like featured snippets or "People Also Ask" boxes. Others don't.
- Mobile vs. desktop: Some tools check both mobile and desktop searches. Others focus on just one.
Because of all these differences, don't expect the numbers to match between diib and other tools. It's just how the industry works.
What You Should Do With This Information
The keyword data in diib gives you a true picture of where your website ranks on Google in your area. Instead of worrying about matching numbers with other tools, here's what matters:
- Watch the trend: Is the number of keywords going up or down over time? That's what really counts.
- Focus on the top positions: Keywords in positions 1-50 are the ones bringing you real customers.
- See what's working: Track which keywords are improving to understand what's helping your business.
